District 201N4, New South Wales, Australia

As Charter President of the Forbes and District Lions club it gives me great pleasure to present our clubs first official annual report. I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all the members of our club for all their help and support during my time as president. Our club has been very active in the last 12 months and looking back it is hard to believe we have accomplished so much. The main event for the early part of the year was our Charter night which was very well attended by various clubs within the District and from all feedback was a most enjoyable evening. This in itself was a great achievement as it finally meant that we were able to stand on our own four feet and since then look at what we achieved

Our meetings have incorporated a variety of guest speakers ranging from Tom Dwyer speaking on setting up the displays for the Sydney Royal Easter Show to the Lions Drug and Alcohol program by Lions John and Carol Barlow from Lithgow. We have also been known to hold great social events. Our Lions have been spotted showing off in the Australia Day Parade, enjoying a Chinese meal, wandering around the croquet green with wooden mallets (I think they were actually trying to play), camping on riverbanks, playing Bingo, getting together for social BBQ's and of course the pilgrimage out to Timaroo for the clubs annual Christmas party. We participated in various Lions projects throughout the year including the Peace Poster Competition, Youth of the Year and satisfied many a sweet tooth in Forbes by keeping them supplied with Lions mints and Christmas Cakes.

Our members have participated in Zone meetings, various changeovers and the District Convention which have helped us make new friends within Lions organisation. We combined with the Forbes CWA to host a Christmas in July event and once again set up a stall at the Forbes show where we promoted Lions and helped out manning the gates.

Our club sponsored a very successful Deb ball, raising over $6000 for the Forbes District Hospital. A big thank you goes out to all the girls involved for allowing us to be a part of the event. The Lions Car boot sales have proven to be popular and have now become a regular event on the Forbes calendar.

We helped out other community organisations as well by being security at the CWA Quilt Show, giving directions at Opera in the Park and providing morning teas at the annual Open Gardens Weekend. Our members helped with the High School and Town Bands garage sales and tested out our BBQ skills at the Carols by Candlelight and the local Netball competition. During the year we were able to donate remote control cars to various organisations throughout the district.

Through our own fund raising we have been able to assist many other organisations. The club has been able to donate over $15000 back to the Forbes community, Lions charities and Ronald McDonald House. This is an outstanding achievement and I congratulate all those who assisted for their efforts in helping raise these funds. In the last year I have the pleasure of inducting 6 new members to our club. This was one of my favourite jobs as president and I hope to see the club grow further in the future. I would like to thank Kim, Grant and the staff at the Vandenberg Hotel for providing us with a venue for our meetings.

My sincere thanks to Gayle who has been has been the clubs Secretary since it's formation way back in May 07, her commitment and dedication has been greatly appreciated. Finally I would like to congratulate incoming President Anita and her new board on their appointment and I am sure that the club will continue to grow and prosper under their direction. Thank you
